diff

• recursive diff between two file trees, ignoring any which don't exist on either side (two methods):

git diff --diff-filter=MR file1 file2

git diff --diff-filter=CMRTXB file1 file2

• diff local and remote file:

dd

• ensure writes aren't cached:

dd if=inputfile of=outputfile bs=10M count=10 conv=fdatasync

• write the first and last blocks (saves time):

dd if=/dev/zero of=FileFabric-1808-single-working-10G.raw bs=1MB count=0 seek=10240

curl

https://martinheinz.dev/blog/113

bash

• log everything to a file:

#!/bin/bash
(
...
) 2>&1 | tee -a file

awk

• match first string but not second string:

awk '/string1/ && !/string2/' file

• use variable in search pattern:

avar="testy" ps auxf | awk "/$mini/"' && /domain-name/ && !/grep/ {print $4}'` && netstat -plunt | awk "/$pid/

arch

Generic Arch commands which don’t deserve a standalone page

Sort installed packages by size:

kubernetes

• get all secrets without column headers:

kubectl get secrets -o custom-columns=NAME:.metadata.name --no-headers=true

• get all pods on a node:

env setup

k3s node setup
