# dd

* ensure writes aren't cached:

`dd if=inputfile of=outputfile bs=10M count=10 conv=fdatasync`

* write the first and last blocks (saves time):

```
dd if=/dev/zero of=FileFabric-1808-single-working-10G.raw bs=1MB count=0 seek=10240

dd if=/dev/zero of=FileFabric-1808-single-working-10G.raw bs=1024 count=0 seek=$[1024*1024*10]
```
